"Higuma" who was eaten by Lord of the Coast in One Piece Volume 1 may be alive.

Hello! I am KENTA, a Japanese who loves One Piece!
Do you know a man named “Higuma” who appeared in the first volume of One Piece?

Although Higuma never reappeared after his appearance in the first volume, where he was attacked by the Lord of the Coast, there has been much speculation in Japan that “Higuma may actually be a very important character.” However, there is a lot of speculation in Japan that “that Higuma might actually be a very important person.

In this issue, we have an interesting discussion of Higuma.
I would be happy if you could take a light hearted look at it and see it through to the end.

Basic information about Higuma

First, let us introduce you to Higuma.

Higuma’s first appearance

Higuma first appeared in Volume I when Luffy, who was living in the village of Fusha, and Shanks, who was based in that village, were chatting at Makino’s Tavern.

Higuma appears in a flamboyant manner with his subordinates in tow and makes an accusation against Shanks, who was drinking with a large crowd.
Then, when Shanks has consumed all the alcohol, he pours it over his head, spits on him, and brags about the number of people he has killed so far.

Shanks responded to Higuma’s rudeness with a laugh and a mature “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Later, Luffy, still a child, was grabbed and beaten by Higuma when Luffy tried to fight Higuma to avenge Shanks’ death.
At that moment, Shanks appears with his red-haired pirates.
I will not tolerate anyone who harms my people for any reason!” and then round up all the Higuma.

Eventually, Higuma was eaten by sea kings in the ocean.

Higuma may actually be strong

We have seen that Higuma appears to be a bandit who is weak but in good shape, but there is a possibility that he is actually strong. Let’s take a deeper look.

Higuma’s bounty

Higuma, who boasted, “I killed 56 people!” Higuma’s bounty at the time was 8 million berries.

The average bounty on East Blue at this time was “3 million berries.
Looking at the bounty alone, in fact, it turned out to be quite high.

Blow to Luffy

In episode 1, there was a scene in which Higuma punches Luffy.

When Luffy is taunted by Shanks, he challenges Higuma, but Luffy, still a child, is beaten so badly that his front teeth break.
Huh? Did you find anything strange in what I just said?
In fact, Luffy is a rubber man, but he has been hit so hard that his teeth are broken.
Luffy is supposed to be a rubber person who doesn’t mind being hit or gunned down in a normal way.
In fact, they may have had tremendous power, such as the ability to “use armament colors.

Evil things he did in the Kingdom of Goa

Higuma “did many evil deeds,” including murder.
At first glance, it appears to be only 56 killings, but the location of this evil deed is the “Kingdom of Goa”.
At the time, the Kingdom of Goa was also the home of naval hero Monkey D. Garp, who stopped the Rocks pirates.
Higuma, who works evil based in such a “Gore Kingdom,” must be very strong after all.

Fight against Shanks

When Higuma realized that he had no chance to win the battle with Shanks, he threw a “smoke ball” to deprive Shanks and his men of their vision and fled.

It was an interesting scene that showed Shanks’ good-natured personality. Speaking of Shanks at that time, he was in a rivalry with the then Four Emperors Mihawk and was so powerful that he could take the “Gomu Gomu no Mi” from CP9. He was also recognized by Whitebeard.
Higuma must have tremendous power to be able to escape from Shanks, who is that strong, by simply depriving him of his vision with a smoke ball.

Higuma may be alive

So far, we have introduced the mystery of Higuma.
What do you think?
It’s about time you all started thinking, “Maybe this Higuma guy is actually strong.” I’m sure you are beginning to think that Higuma may actually be strong!
From this point on, we will consider the possibility that Higuma is alive.
Higuma was supposed to have died after being eaten by Lord of the Coast, but there is one thing that bothers me.
That is why the “official character book (bible card)” sold in Japan does not say “death”.

Other deceased characters have “age” in the age section, but Higuma only has “age 46” and no “age”.
Is it still alive?
In the first place, we should not apply our reality to the world of One Piece, should we?
Because, come to think of it, some people are alive despite being swallowed whole by giant sea creatures!

This is the end of this issue.
To tell you the truth, I agree with you all and think that the description must have been a bit inconsistent because it is the first episode, but the author, Oda-sensei, has written foreshadowing in a surprisingly wide variety of scenes.
It would be very exciting to see “Higuma in a surprising form” in the final chapter!
