Hello!
This time, I would like to share with you my thoughts on Usopp.
Usopp is a lying character like Aesop’s “Wolf Boy.
However, as the story of One Piece progresses, the lies Usopp has told in the past are gradually becoming reality. Let’s take a closer look.
How he came to lie
The first reason why Usopp started lying is because his father Yasop joined the Red-Haired Pirates and his mother Bankina got sick.
As a child, his father Yasop rarely came home because he was a pirate.
He first lied to his mother, who was bedridden and ill, saying that his father’s pirate ship had arrived in order to cheer her up.
It was not about lying, but about the son’s desire to cheer up his mother. It was the son’s feelings for his mother.
Usopp’s lies come true
Usopp has been telling lies since he was a child, and now he has become a great liar.
But in fact, his lies have come true with each passing adventure.
Among the many lies that Usopp has told, here are some that have come true.
1. Pirates attacked!
In my hometown, Syrup Village, I used to tell this lie as a routine.
Everyone is in trouble!
Pirates are attacking!
One day, the lie came true and the Kuroneko pirates really did attack.
Usopp’s words did not reach the villagers, who were in a wolf-boy state, but Usopp stood up and “lied” about the incident.
2. The story of the fight with the giant goldfish.
A kind lie he told to cheer up a sickly girl, Kaya, in his hometown, Syrup Village.
When I was five years old, I fought a giant goldfish that lived in the South Seas!
The first thing that struck me was the size and length of its poo!
I thought it was a continent, so I went ashore.
This lie became a reality when I left Little Garden.
A line from Dory & Broggy, who have been fighting on this island for 100 years.
“You monster goldfish. It’s not just the size of this guy that amazes me… it’s the size and length of his feces that eats up all the islands around there… a huge feces called [island of nothingness]… I remember when I mistook it for a continent and landed on it a long time ago… …!!! "
What a surprise, it was real in Dolly & Broggie’s story.
3. Giant goldfish carried to the land of dwarfs (giant goldfish)
Continuation of the above lie.
Kaya asked “What happened to the giant goldfish? Kaya asked, “What did you do with the giant goldfish?
He filleted the giant goldfish and took it to the dwarf kingdom, but he still hasn’t eaten it all.
This lie came true in the “Kingdom of Tontatta” under the Green Bit.
There was a kingdom of dwarfs who caught and ate giant goldfish that lived in the surrounding seas.
Because of its huge size, it is said that it would last for several months even if the entire tontata nation ate it.
4. Legendary mole
A lie to cover up the fact that he broke into Kaya’s mansion.
Ah! That’s the one.
I saw the legendary mole enter this mansion!
So I went to look for it.
This became a reality in the cover series “Gedatsu’s Life in the Blue Sea”.
In it, a mole named “Legendary Dobancho” made an appearance.
Maybe someday I will meet Usopp and his friends.
5. dragon!
Usopp’s pirates chased small lizards, which they imitated as “dragons.
It’s a dragon, capture it!
Usopp, however, encounters a real dragon in Punk Hazard, which is thought to be an “imaginary creature”.
It was a creature created by the genius scientist Vega Punk.
And Momo no Sukesuke also became a dragon by eating Smile, a man-made devil fruit.
In the world of One Piece, what happens twice often happens three times, and for the third time, the Fourth Emperor “Kaidou” was a dragon.
6. Cerberus, get rid of it!
The Usopp pirates used to call puppies “Cerberus” and drive them away.
It’s Keroberos! Get rid of them!
This became a reality in Thrillerbark.
We encountered Cerberus, which had been modified by Dr. Hogback.
One of the three foxes was a surprising character.
7. 30 Million Berry Bounty
When Luffy first became a bounty hunter, the amount was 30 million berries.
In that picture, Usopp’s back was seen.
The rumor around here is that the 30 million berries on the wanted list are on the back of my head!
Usopp lies that the amount of 30 million berries is on the back of his head.
However, as the “Sogeking”, the first bounty of 30 million berries is placed on his head, and he becomes a reality!
8. The shaking is my “high energy”!
A sudden tremor occurred in Greenbit.
At this time, Usopp bluffed that it was his “high energy.
Oh my God…the shaking now is my “high energy”!
But in Dress Rosa, he awakens his “Haiki-Color High Aura” in order to save Luffy.
At that time, it was unconsciously due to desperation, but in the future, he is likely to consciously manipulate this high energy.
Roots of lying character
Usopp is a long-nosed liar, but there are two roots from which this character was born.
1. Usopp’s character model is Pinocchio.
In my consideration, Usopp’s character model is Pinocchio.
He probably thought of Usopp, who has a long nose, based on Pinocchio, whose nose grows when he tells a lie.
And Raboon was modeled after the big whale in Pinocchio.
The story is that Zeppetto is eaten by the whale and spends his time inside the whale.
It is with the crocus.
When we think of Laboon, we have an image of Brook, not Usopp, but in fact it is Usopp who understands Laboon’s feelings the most.
Usopp lied in volume 23, saying “Pirates are coming! " and lied about it.
This was a lie in the hope that his father, now a pirate, would return safely and alive. He is waiting for the ship to return one day.
Laboon is also “waiting for the boat to come back someday.”
In fact, it is Usopp who understands Raboon the best.
2. the wolf boy of aesop’s aesop’s tale
The root of the liar is Aesop’s fable, “The Wolf Boy.
In the tale, a shepherd boy is always alone and bored, so he plays a prank and lies that the wolf is coming, and the sheep get eaten.
In a small foreshadowing, I think the wolf boy in Aesop’s Tale is also related to the sheep character’s butler in Syrup Village, who gave Kaya and the village a Merry No. as a thank you for saving the village from Captain Black.
Relationship between Usopp and fairy tales
My guess is that Usopp’s famous scenes are modeled on world-famous fairy tales.
There are four world-famous fairy tales: Aesop’s Fables, Grimm’s Fables, Perrot’s Fables, and Andersen’s Fables.
The model for one of these, Aesop’s Fables, is “Usopp.
Until now, Usopp has defeated “cheaters” that Luffy and Zoro could not defeat.
Usopp is able to defeat opponents whose abilities are too cunning to be defeated by ordinary people.
And it is the opponents that Usopp fights that are modeled after the respective fairy tales.
The best fights modeled on Grimm’s fairy tales
The famous game modeled after a Grimm’s fairy tale is “Sugar”.
My guess is that the red cape-like fashion is inspired by Akazukin-chan from Grimm’s fairy tales.
Sugar is a “hobi-hobi-no-seed,” which means she can turn anyone she touches into a toy and make them obey her by making a contract with them.
Usopp eats the very spicy grape that was originally intended for Sugar, and his tongue and eyeballs pop out from the spiciness of the grape.
The shocked look on Sugar’s face startled her so much that she fainted.
This led to Usopp’s victory over Sugar.
A famous game modeled on a Grimm’s fairy tale
The famous game modeled after a Grimm’s fairy tale is “Perona”.
Perona is a “holo-holo fruit” and can make any opponent’s heart go blank with her ghost alter ego.
Usopp won by knocking Verona out with a toy cockroach.
What about the famous game modeled on Andersen’s fairy tale?
Usopp has defeated many girls wearing crowns with cheat abilities, but only “Andersen’s Fairy Tale” has not yet been depicted in the story.
I predict that Usopp will have a great fight with the “girl with the crown” in the next and final chapter.
The “Ugly Duckling” is the most famous of the remaining “Andersen’s Fairy Tales.
Who is there?
I can think of a few jealous and ugly characters who wear crowns.
In the future, Usopp may defeat the “girl with cheat ability” that even Luffy can’t defeat, in the usual way.
